- The PPC is the most succesful RISC processor there is. DEC and MIPS are
- no alternative because they are much more expensive and all they provide
- is good floating point speed. The PPC is quite fast at that too. I don't
- want to compare PPC and x86 that has been done often enough. But DEC and
- all the other RISC processors except the PPC are produced in numbers of
- thousand while PPC is produced in millions! Also motorola and IBM together
- are the only ones in computer business who will have any chance against intel.
- And: they are always working at new PPCs like the 614 and 615. Also they are
- working at new transistor cicuits that will be able to run at 500 and 600 MHz.
- To me the PPC is the only way into the future...

- Undoubtedly intel/HP are much more powerful than Moto/IBM but DEC
- is less than a David compared to them...

-
- They neither can produce emulation chips that will be fast enough to satisfy
- the customers nor they can squeeze much more performance out of the crappy x86
- architecture. They had to stuff so much into the PPro and don't even beat the PPC
- 604 that is four times cheaper than the PPro.
- Intel is in real trouble and I bet that until the end of this millenium the x86
- won't be topseller anymore. And that means that anything can happen: maybe the PPC
- will be the processor to fill that gap? With CHRP it has some chances.

- But it is the only chance for the Amiga to survive.
